Crown Towers Resort

Crown Towers Resort is located in Queensland, Australia, on the Gold Coast.  It is reportedly near the coast, “just a short stroll away” from Surfer's Paradise.   This is a 36 story building, so I would hope that lifts were available, instead of being a special feature.

Crown Towers Resort has a mix of 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments.  All the apartments are very large, but most of the reviews that I read emphasized that whatever management is concentrating on, it is not customer service or décor.  According to 4 out of 5 reviews, the décor was “dated”.  I read complaints of a musty odor and dirty carpets, bedspreads, and refrigerator shelves.  Some of the furnishings in the apartments were called “broken” and “unusable” and management, when contacted, seemed to do its utmost to flatly contradict the customer and convince them that there is nothing wrong with their room.  There were numerous complaints, even by the writers of positive reviews.  These reviewers talk about the lack of dish soap and laundry detergent available, the general unhelpfulness of the “people at the front desk” and the fact that the “short stroll” was much longer than anticipated.

Other reviewers of the Crown Towers Resort said their rooms were spacious and clean, and that their room was everything that they could want and had wonderful accommodations with a great view of the ocean.

Reviews of the indoor pool were also mixed.  Some of the reviewers were very happy with the pool and said that it was beautiful, that the man-made beach made lounging around the pool a wonderful experience.  Other reviewers, while agreeing that the man-made beach was indeed beautiful, pointed out that the water contained within the pool was much too cold, and that management, when contacted, explained without apology that the heating units in the pool were broken.

The reviewers were unanimous about two things—the helpfulness of the staff and the rudeness of management.  Over and over again I read how helpful and friendly the staff were to the guests; and just as often the helpfulness and friendliness of staff were mentioned, so too was mentioned the arrogance and unfriendliness of the management staff in the hotel.  In fact one reviewer calls the general manager “aggressive, angry, and threatening” and says that the security guard informed him that “the boss is always like this” and recommended the guest stay out of his way as he was prone to doing “crazy things.”
